A little advice before you install windows vista: Have a look at the other software of your pc's hardware. It may be no longer useable under windows... My modem's software refused to operate under vista. The consequence was: I had to "remove vista" from my PC.
If you do that put Windows XP in a clean directory, not the windows one. I did the former and the setup Windows XP program had a lot of difficulties n finding certain files and even directories back on the setup CDRs.... It was remarkable it were always the same things it couldn't find back. It is as if our friend M$ Billy Goat has made the returning of Vista to XP a little more "interesting"
